Boston Blend: A heritage written in stone
Some stone veneer is poured from a mold. Boston Blend® is the real thing — authentic New England fieldstone, shaped by deep time and carried here by glaciers. Watch the short film below for the full story of America’s most authentic natural thin stone veneer, then explore the colors, the five profiles, and how to get samples.
A heritage written in stone
Boston Blend began hundreds of millions of years ago, forged deep in the earth by volcanic and tectonic forces. In the last ice age, glaciers ground it loose and carried it across New England, leaving it in the fields as glacial till. For nearly four decades, Stoneyard has gathered this genuine fieldstone from historic farms across six New England states — Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine — and crafted it into a thin stone veneer light enough, about 14 pounds per square foot, to install almost anywhere, indoors and out.
No two stones alike
Boston Blend is a rich, earth-toned palette — brown, tan, gray, and buff, with quiet accents of pink, yellow, and white. Because it is real stone, no two pieces are ever the same, and laid together they create a surface with remarkable depth and warmth.
Five profiles, one unmistakable stone
- Ashlar — squared and rectangular, refined and architectural.
- Ledgestone — long, linear courses with crisp horizontal shadow lines.
- Mosaic — irregular shapes that fit together like a hand-laid puzzle.
- Round — full, rounded fieldstone with timeless New England character.
- Square & Rectangular — clean geometry, softened by natural texture.
Where Boston Blend belongs
From fireplaces and entryways to full exteriors, chimneys, garden walls, and outdoor kitchens — in private homes and in landmarks alike. Residential or commercial, interior or exterior, Boston Blend looks like it has always belonged.
Built for New England weather
Boston Blend is Harsh Climate Approved — Stoneyard’s own standard for natural stone built for freeze-and-thaw climates — and it is independently tested to ASTM standards. Because its color is the stone itself, not a surface tint, it will not fade or date. What you install today will look just as beautiful for generations.
