Cliffside Oasis Curaçao: Cambridge Blend Stone Panels in the Caribbean

When Rick and Nancy Pereira of Ontario, Canada set out to build a two-unit vacation rental on the hillside above Blue Bay, Curaçao, they wanted the exterior to feel both modern and grounded. Crisp white stucco and blue tile needed a natural counterpoint, so they chose Stoneyard® Cambridge Blend Stone Panels for the home’s most visible walls.

The result is Cliffside Oasis Curaçao: a penthouse and a main unit with ocean and golf course views, private balcony pools, and a two-minute walk to the beach. Real stone wraps the tall pool wall at the front of the home, the rooftop parapets, a stair tower beside a white spiral staircase, and the courtyard columns.

Building in the Caribbean means every material has to travel, and every day on site counts. Stoneyard stone panels are real, trimmed natural stone set into modular, interlocking panels that hide their joints, so a wall goes up quickly while still looking like hand-laid dry-stacked masonry. Matching corner pieces wrap each 90-degree outside corner, which mattered on a design with this many columns, towers and pool walls.

Rick measured 1,087 square feet of wall area and 82 linear feet of outside corners, then added 10% for waste and ordered 1,200 square feet of flats and 90 linear feet of corners. Stoneyard shipped the order by commercial freight to his freight forwarder in Miami, who sent it on to the island.
